Some liberal media members are falling in love with Bill Maher’s “Real Time” monologue, returning his dinner with President Donald Trump to the White House.
Maher went viral last Friday to his first show after he and Trump met face -to -face at a meeting coordinated by their mutual friend Kid Rock.
Maher called Trump “gracious and sober” and suggested that the man in the Oval office is not the man who sees the rest of the world on TV.
“I never felt that I had to walk in the egg with eggs around him,” Maher told his audience. “And honestly, I voted for Clinton and Obama, but I would never feel comfortable talking to them as I was able to talk to Donald Trump. That’s just how she fell down.
As the conservatives celebrated the Maher White House visit, many liberals were disturbed by his comments.
“Congratulations, @billmaher. You were played by Trump. Light Mark. He used you as an enigma,” reacted the Wajahat Ali writer in X.
“BTW does not overestimate Maher by prostitating himself to Trump,” wrote former MSNBC Host Keith Olbermann. “I’ve known Bill since 1978. He was a shameless opportunist without real principles then and he remains so. That’s so he can keep his HBO show.”
Democratic strategy contributor and Fox News Leslie Marshall similarly thought that visits to DC and Maher was merely “self-service”, linking it to the March-A-Lago visit from MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brozinski, asking how he can see as a “threatening” “BREAD BREAD” with him unless he included their last line.
“When you explain a lot, you are guilty,” Marshall Fox News Digital told. “I think we’ll discover them within a few months if that would be a bad decision to based on ratings and reconciliations.”
The Washington Post was quite powerful against MAHER’s journey to the White House. She published a story on Monday entitled “Trump fascinated Bill Maher. Comedian’s fans don’t see her funny.”
The report quoted Reddi’s users and comments on social media clashing HBO Host, many pledging to overlook his show, as well as an Oakland lawyer who told the post he lacks “empathy” for those affected by Trump’s policies as federal federal workers.
Washington columnist post León Krause The author of a piece declaring Maher played by Trump, comparing his comments to the president with flattery given to Adolf Hitler, Fidel Castro, Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong on their private interactions.
“Agreeing to meet Trump, allowing himself to be privately fascinated by a charismatic leader and then sharing his new softening President Bill Maher has made Trump much more difficult,” Krause concluded.
The Washington Analyst Global Security Post Josh Rogin brought his criticism directly to Maher while discussing the “real -time” panel, telling Host that he was a “Prop” in “Prunt” of Trump.
MSNBC host Ayman Mohyeldin accused Maher of not realizing that Trump was “using it” and suggested Maher fed on “normalization of Trumpism” with his visit to the White House.
But not all liberals see the Maher-Trump dinner as a bad thing.
“I don’t think there is any mistake in the meeting,” Fox News contributor Richard Fowler told Fox News Digital. “I think if you stay inside Washington, DC, Beltway, it’s very simple to live inside a political silicon.”
Fowler said while the democratic “base” can see something wrong in meeting Trump, they have to face the current reality that “Republicans control all levers of power” and that expressing their concerns directly to him in a conversation in the Oval office is a conversation worth having, even if he ends without success.
“It’s a tool in the Democratic Party tool,” Fowler said.
