“The View” co-worker Joy Behar reacted to Pope Francis’s death on Tuesday and mourned that the late Pontif could be replaced by a “conservative boy”.
“I wonder because there could be a reaction against how good he was and how humility he had compared to some of the leaders in this world now, so there may be a quick reaction to him, and they will get a conservative boy there, who, you know, is anti-gaoy and everything else,” Behar said.
Pope Francis, Bishop of Rome and the Supreme Pontifi of the Catholic Church, died Monday morning, Vatican Cardinal Camerlengo Kevin Farrell reported. The pope’s funeral is set for Saturday at 10am in St. Peter’s Square.
Co-prescriber Sunny Host also said she hoped that Francis would be replaced by someone similar to her and spoke about how she had fought with being Catholic due to sex scandals and church views on the LGBTQ+community.
“I’ve fought by being a Catholic, but this pope changed things to me,” she said. “I remember that I was making this discussion with you, joy, about how I feel like there is an empathy crisis in this country, that if it doesn’t happen with you, you can’t feel the empathy for it to happen to someone else. They will expel that person. It will not affect my family, so I don’t care about affecting others,” Host said.
Hostin said she looked at a “60 -minute” interview with the Pope and quoted her saying, “We must overcome our hearts to feel again. We cannot remain indifferent to such human dramas. The globalization of indifference is a very ugly illness.” Host then added to his quote, saying she thought it was a condition that “this place is suffering”.
Co-winner Whoopi Goldberg recalled her 2023 visit with the Francis Pope during Tuesday.
“Listen, he brought and it sounds crazy, but he brought 100 comedians from all over the world. One hundred of us in meeting him. And what he said was,” I want to laugh more, we all have to laugh more, “and then he looked at 100 of us, and he said,” What you do is very important, because without you, it’s Goldber.
“He is exactly what I hoped he would be, that he is a pope for all people, regardless of religion, which I really appreciated, and I wanted to thank him for all my gay friends, and to all my divorced friends, because he has essentially said, listen, God will take what. October 2023 of “View”, discussing you.
The Pope often preached on the Catholic virtues of mercy, kindness, and humility. He did not leave controversy. And US presidents, including Donald Trump and Joe Biden, were not immune from his views.
Less than a month in President Donald Trump’s presidency, Pontifi criticized Republican plans for the mass deportations of migrants, stressing that the strong removal of people simply for their immigration status deprives them of their inherent dignity and “will end badly”.
