Chicago Tribune issued a gloomy warning to New Yorkers regarding the election of a Socialist chairman like Zohran Mamdani on Monday open with bombs, the day before Empire State’s primary elections.
The editorial board of the letter paints a gloomy image of Mamdani, the 33-year-old of the Democratic Socialist Queens Assembly, who rejected the long preface, former governor Andrew Cuomo, in a stunning new survey released earlier during the day.
“A well-known dilemma: a moderate, business-friendly Democrat against a Democratic Socialist. New Yorkers, get it from Agoikago we have seen this film before, and the conclusion is not beautiful,” the board of one of the last other city newspapers warned, warned.
The Tribune compared Mamdani’s valuable campaign, which has gained a historic amount of fundamental support, with that of the united mayor of the city, Brandon Johnson, who took office in 2023.
“Johnson’s approval rating in his second year – a reflection of how quickly progressive promises collapsed under the weight of government and the financial reality of Agoikagos,” the work wrote. “What looked good in theory has been translated into malfunction, fueled by fiscal and inexperienced political mistakes.
“Johnson is one of the most progressive leaders in the US, but Mamdani is no doubt even more radical,” she continued.
The outlet stressed that many of Mamdani’s ideas-such as lease freezing, city-operated supermarkets and free-transit “shared (at least in principle) by President Brandon Johnson, and many are known in blue cities”.
But it was quick to argue that “experience has taught us here that distant left candidates do not do for effective or well -known municipality leaders in today’s stressful economy.”
Ed-Bord drew parallel between Mamdani’s Freebie platform, which he plans to fund tax increases to bring about $ 10 billion a year, with the tax proposal similarly Johnson.
“Johnson tried to sail a $ 300 million tax increase – and failed. He tried to pass a ‘residence tax’ that would have walked the real estate transfer tax – and failed“Tribune stressed.
The tribune was the latest to meet in the last wave of media that denounced Queens Paul’s ambitious race.

The newspaper echoed feelings separated from New York’s many publications, including The Post, the Daily News and the New York Times who have discouraged voters to rank the Socialist candidate, the very good platform to be true is only it, they say.
A line through the anti-branded two-year assembly is the lack of his experience and the unrealistic nature of his policies.
“If New Yorkers are frustrated with President Eric Adams, they should be careful not to trade it for someone who can lead a city that is less competitive and less secure financially.
“Believe us – we are living that reality.”
The ominous tribune warning comes just one day before Tuesday’s primary elections.
Surveys in the five municipalities will be open from 6am to 9 pm
